Netdiver best of 2007

February 26th, 2008

Netdiver

Don’t we do our best work when we’re inspired? The Netdiver Best of the Year is sort of the Time magazine “best of” for websites. These are not awards for web apps but rather for innovative design. Even if you aren’t a design freak I think some of this work pushes the boundaries of what is possible in a web browser. Mostly, it is just a lot of beautiful stuff.

Dwell magazine getting into the homes business

February 18th, 2008

This seems pretty smart. Fashion dwelling publisher partners with Empyrean Construction to offer a line of hip, pre-fab homes. Pre-fab is all the rage don’t you know? I think this is really, really cool.

Porschestrab

I have no idea why Porsche mailed this to us. But, I guess its sort of interesting. It’s a life sized metal replica of the original Porsche factory street sign near the first factory in Leipzig.

Full screen image navigation with Flash

February 5th, 2008

I hate how I can’t always show images as big as I want. I’m experimenting with a few new methods for those times when you want an image to take the full browser window no matter HOW BIG YOUR MONITOR. On my Mac 30″ monitor, this still fills my screen. Please try it and tell me what you think. To move forward, just move your mouse to the right of the screen. To move backwards, move your mouse to the left of the screen. Just like in the image below. Do you like what you see? Cool eh?

Photo Paintings: It's fun to take some old photos from my collection and see if I can get them to look more like physical works of art. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not but the process is quite fun.

Chernobyl Series: I've been working on some image collages with some old Chernobyl photos to try and pull some emotion out of some already spectacular images.

New Years 2007 in Hawaii: We spent New Years at Mauna Kea on the Big Island. Highly recommended to get some sun this time of year.
