Seattle, on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest, is surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests, and encompasses thousands of acres of parkland (hence its nickname, "Emerald City"). It’s home to a thriving tech industry, some pretty great music, open-minded people, intellectuals, proper coffee and good eats. It is both a metropolitan area and an outdoor lifestyle. The futuristic Space Needle, a legacy of the 1962 World’s Fair, is its most recognizable landmark. You kind of want to go here.
If you work with computers a lot, you may understand that sometimes it is nice to get back to the analog. And when you do that, you're reminded just how much subtlety is lost from the digital creative process. Don't get me wrong. I love creating things on my laptop. Sometimes you need to peel me away when I feel like I'm on a roll. But I get an entirely different kind of satisfaction moving physical material. It's been harder to do here in China but I need to get back into it.
