Hey, a new layout for KellySmith.com

Yep. It’s true. I designed the last WordPress theme and some things just didnt work right. For example, I had all kinds of things that didnt quite work right when people used older versions of some browsers. And, I also like to have a lot of columns on the front page that show for those users who have really big monitors. I have a Mac 30″ display and I LOVE it when people design sites that take advantage of the available screen real-estate that the user has available. This was the BIGGEST motivator to redo this thing.

So, when you view this 4-column page with your window width set to at least 1280 pixels, you’ll see all 4 columns arranged horizontally across your screen. If your window is 1024 pixels wide, you’ll see 3 columns. And if your window is 800 pixels wide (or less), you’ll see 2 columns. Hmm…

Where do the columns go?
The outer columns do not disappear—they simply and seamlessly drop to the bottom of their preceding column. Each column will always have a full-height vertical border. Folks with narrow browser windows will never know what they’re missing. In fact, they will not miss a thing.

This site has been tested to do exactly as I describe in following browsers without puking all over itself.

IE5.x, IE6, IE7
Firefox 1.x (and higher)
Safari 1.2x (and higher)
Opera 9.x (and higher)
