Driving home from the Seattle airport today (Dec 11, 2005) I saw this plane wrapped up outside US customs. It appears to be an ORIGINAL Nazi ere fighter jet. The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the world’s first operational turbojet aircraft. Its first flight as a pure jet was on July 18, 1942.
Oh, groovy shots! This is actually one of several airworthy replicas that have been under construction over the past 12-13 years. As of now, two have flown with a third getting ever closer to its first flight. This particular example, named 'Tango-Tango', was being readied for shipment to Europe when you caught it.
